Calendar of Mlirn

One year on the Mlirn calendar is based on the orbital period of the exoplanet known as “Poltergeist,” which is equivalent to about 66.5419 Earth days. The year 0 starts from 20:50 UTC on March 6th, 1996 of the Gregorian calendar, corresponding to the birth of Mlirn. The year is further divided up into jelly days, which is the amount of time it takes a moon jelly to swim 216bjt (648m), where the speed of a moon jelly is approximated to be 2.33×10−5bjt/s (0.7cm/s), which is about 25.71 hours. There are four months in a year, namely, Nautilus (14 jelly days), Squid (15 jelly days), Octopus (14 jelly days), and Jellyfish (15 jelly days). Every 8th year, however, is a leap year in which Octopus has an additional day. The new year signifies the birth of Mlirn.

Mlirn Time

This is Slien. Slien is a jellyfish who likes cookies. And ever since the birth of Mlirn, Slien has had their sights set on a single cookie that fell into the ocean on the fateful day of Mlirn’s birth. Everyday, Slien swims and swims in the hopes of finally fulfilling their sweet dreams of wrapping their tentacles around that delectable cookie and slurping it up into their bell. But, alas, at the end of everyday, just as Slien is about to reach out and touch the cookie, they are swept away by the currents and washed back to where they started. This is the basis of Mlirn Time.

One jelly day is comprised of 16 jelly hours, which are further divided into 16 jelly minutes, which themselves are divided into 16 jelly seconds. Accordingly, one jelly hour is about 1 Earth hour and 37 Earth minutes; one jelly minute is about 6 Earth minutes and 2 Earth seconds; and one jelly second is about 22.60 Earth seconds. The following displays the current time in Mlirn Time, both using Thern-based notation and Latin-based (hexidecimal) notation, where the hour precedes the minute, which precedes the second.
